• The mixing stage takes place just before mastering, but after recording and arranging (modification of the song's structure).

Mixing is the precise work of cleaning up unnecessary frequencies, optimizing dynamics and stereo image, and adding various effects (e.g. reverb, delay, chorus, etc.). In this way, each track can be fitted together like a jigsaw puzzle. The result is impressive clarity for your music as a whole. All with the aim of creating a harmonious, homogeneous whole.

  • Mastering will highlight the strengths and weaknesses of your mix. It's important to understand that each step must be carried out professionally, if you want a result comparable to the productions of your favorite artists.

Mixing can never make up for major recording errors, and mastering is no miracle cure for mixing errors.

Important: Before sending your mix for mastering, it is essential to ensure that it has been done correctly (good levels, frequency cleaning, correct instrument placement, etc...).

  • Mastering is the last stage after mixing. It is the final stage before the track is distributed and marketed.

During mastering, complex processes of timbre change (equalization) and dynamics (audio compression) are applied to boost the sound signal throughout the mixed track.

The mastering phase is used to "calibrate" the track so that it corresponds to current market standards. The aim is to make the track compatible with any type of listening system (club, hi-fi, car, smartphone...). Just bear in mind that no radio station or label will accept your track (no matter how talented you are) if the mastering doesn't match the format they expect.

  • There are 3 types of mastering:
    - Stereo: Classic mastering. Does not allow you to correct any mixing errors.
    - Instrumentation + Vocals: You send 2 separate tracks. Allows you to correct minor mixing errors.
    - Stems: Send up to 10 separate tracks already mixed (e.g. Kick, Snare, Toms, Overhead, Bass, Synths, Guitars, Piano, Vocals, FX). Allows you to correct many mixing errors.

Your choice of mastering depends on the quality of your mix and the result you want to achieve. For example, we recommend "Stems" mastering for home studio mixes. If your mix was produced in a professional studio, you'll probably prefer "stereo" mastering or "instrument + vocal" mastering.

  • 1. Only files in ".wav" or ".aiff" format for maximum sound quality.
    2. All instrumental tracks must be in stereo, panning to center.
    3. Sampling frequency identical to your session. Minimum 44.1 KHz, prefer 48 KHz and best from 88.2 KHz.
    4. Quantization at least 24-bit (optimal at 32-bit).
    5. Always disable dithering and normalization.
    6. The sound level of each of your tracks should never reach 0 dB.
    7. For best results, vocals should be recorded in a professional studio.
    8. Make sure that all tracks in a project are timed together and start at the same time.
    9. Adjust the quantization and velocity of all your midi tracks (if possible, avoid velocity differences on melodic instruments and percussion).
    10. Name all tracks correctly.
    11. For mixing, export your tracks with all your plugins activated if you have made a premix. Then make a second export, deactivating all plugins for each track and master (EQ, compressors, limiters, etc.), retaining only those plugins that bring an artistic change to the melody, groove, etc.

Important: Don't forget to send us a commercial reference in the same musical genre, which will tell us how to work on the mix and mastering of your project. Please also send us a premix of your music, to give us an overall idea of how it should sound, as well as an instrumental and acapella version.
